We found ourselves at Croma, the Indian equivalent of Best Buy, to purchase something for a family member. Unfortunately, the two young women who were helping us had a difficult time with our request, first, because said item was not available in the store, but, more importantly, because the calculation of the 10% discount was beyond their abilities. A manager was summoned. While she, too, had difficulty determining the amount of the discount, she had fortunately arrived with a calculator in hand. She proceeded to divide the purchase price by 0.1.
Apparently it isn't only our educational system that is failing...
