Celebrity Sighting

New York is full of famous people. That's why I was not surprised to hear the familiar phrase "I know that man" while standing at the cash register in Bloomingdale's.

It took no more than for me to see the back of his head and his biker short and vest ensemble for me to identify aerobics pioneer Richard Simmons, who is, at least in my book, somewhat of a has-been. Why Richard?

He was flitting between make-up counters having his photo taken with overweight middle-aged saleswomen.

Couldn't my first celebrity sighting have been of someone with a bit more dignity?

I hope that this is not a sign of things to come.
