Back in my wild and crazy days in the late nineties, I used to fly to New York from my various European homes to spend time with BuddyCrocker and his then-s.o., my childhood friend P., and other dear friends.
Until this past weekend, my pocket map of Manhattan dated back to that era, reminding me of all of the fabulous parties we had, rather than of my present-day 80-hour work weeks.
It was simple enough for me to interpret the old map to suit modern day circumstances - no more World Trade Center, etc. However, what I did not realize, in my infitine daftness, is that the old map did not contain a new subway line leaving only one block from my apartment...
